<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" xmlns:o="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"><head></head><body>Matthew 27;37<div><br></div><div><b>37. &nbsp;And over his head they put&nbsp;the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus the King of the Jews.”</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div><i>“…….that I may be his own, and live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness. &nbsp;This is most certainly true.” </i>&nbsp;(Luther’s Small Catechism, Explanation of the Second Article of the Apostles Creed)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br>What does it mean to have a King? &nbsp;For me it is comforting. &nbsp;Americans tend toward resentment of the concept of Rule and Authority by Divine Right. &nbsp;We pride ourselves as ‘revolutionaries’. &nbsp;Rebellion against the&nbsp;tyranny of an English king, George III, is how the Colonies became States, united to “form a &nbsp;more perfect Union….”</div><div><br></div><div>But, we as a nation are learning that our union is anything but perfect. &nbsp;We are,&nbsp;“<i>a house divided against itself”</i>&nbsp;(Matthew 12;25) &nbsp;and our future as a nation is grim. &nbsp;I am ashamed of our President, Vice President,&nbsp;most of the Congress (“…<i>w</i><i>ho frame mischief by statute.”&nbsp;</i>Psalm 94;20), most of&nbsp;our government agencies (VA excepted), many of our judges, district attorneys, and many of our governors. &nbsp;Putting our hope in those elected in the next mid-term elections or the presidential election of ‘24, is trusting in man. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>No, give me the crucified King, whose love for me (and you) kept him on the cross when it was in his power to come down. &nbsp;His will for us&nbsp;is better by far that our&nbsp;own.
