<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>John 8;39-42<div><br></div><div><b>39. &nbsp;They answered him, “Abraham is our father.” &nbsp;Jesus said to them, “&nbsp;If you were Abraham’s children, you would do what Abraham did,</b></div><div><b>40. &nbsp;but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth which I heard from God; this is not what Abraham did.</b></div><div><b>41. &nbsp;You do what your father did.” &nbsp;They said to him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.”</b></div><div><b>42. &nbsp;Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I proceed and came forth from God; I came not of my own accord, but he sent me.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>All pretense is laid aside. &nbsp;The Jews do not deny Jesus’ assertion that they <i>“seek to kill me” </i>(Jesus).</div><div><br></div><div>Two things about Abraham are sighted by Jesus.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>First, Abraham believed and&nbsp;obeyed God. &nbsp;He received God’s Word of&nbsp;promise, left his home and traveled to a foreign land. &nbsp;He believed God would keep his promise, giving his descendants the land, blessing Abraham, and making him a blessing to all the world through, Jesus.</div><div><br></div><div>Second, Abraham loved and worshipped God.</div><div><br></div><div>True children of Abraham are not biologically descended, they are spiritually descended. &nbsp;You and I are children of Abraham, because we have received ‘the Blessing’. &nbsp;We believe God’s promise of a foreign land, not of this world, the home of righteousness. &nbsp;We are travelers now on our way to that home. &nbsp;&nbsp;We believe God’s Word of promise, ‘the Blessing’, Christ Jesus, in whom we now live. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>God IS our Father. &nbsp;Jesus has taught us to call him ‘Father’. &nbsp;The love of God has been poured into our hearts, by which we love God, each other, and even our enemies.</div><div><br></div><div>We too&nbsp;have come forth from God, (through the water and the Spirit of baptism), AND we have been ‘sent’. &nbsp;<i>“As the Father has sent me, even so, I send you.” &nbsp;</i>(John 20;21). &nbsp; <i>“Go, make disciples…”. </i>(Matthew 28;18-20)</div><div><br></div><div>Being Abraham’s children means not just believing, but going. &nbsp;If we are not all about ‘going’ we are deceived just as Jesus’ enemies were.</div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, grant us to show the world, we are the&nbsp;true&nbsp;children of Abraham. &nbsp;Bless us to ‘believe, leave, and love’, as he did. &nbsp;Grant us wisdom to know we are ‘going’, this world is not our home. &nbsp;Bless us with deep hunger and thirst for our home of&nbsp;righteousness. &nbsp;Let our love for Jesus inspire us to daily walk by faith, not sight. &nbsp;Deliver us from the deceptions of self-righteousness, make us to ever&nbsp;walk humbly with you in all&nbsp;your ways. &nbsp;In Jesus we pray, Amen</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric</div><div>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word.’</div><div><br><br><a href="https://overview.mail.yahoo.com/?.src=iOS" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></body></html>


John 8;39-42
