<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Acts 8;29-31<div><br></div><div><b>29. &nbsp;And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go up and join this chariot.”</b></div><div><b>30. &nbsp;So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?”</b></div><div><b>31. &nbsp;And he said, “How can I, unless some one guides me?” &nbsp;And he invited&nbsp;Philip to come up and sit with him.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>True wisdom is humble, it knows it does not know everything.</div><div><b><br></b></div><div>So many today are being led by their stupid carnality to claim to be Believers, but who absent themselves from pastors and teachers who are given to the Church to guide them. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Luther teaches that we are to <i>“gladly hear and learn” </i>&nbsp;God’s Word. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>It is indeed the Spirit who leads us into all truth, but primarily he works through pastors and teachers. &nbsp;Our own private study and meditation upon the scriptures are always valuable. &nbsp;But, ignoring those whom God has given to guide us is ridiculous. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>We would not attempt to journey through a minefield, when one who knows the way is offering to show us the path of life and righteousness…much more when it come to the study of the Word. &nbsp;Our carnal nature resists learning the Word, and also is always seeking to twist the Word to suit our selfish desires. &nbsp;We need the Helper, working through faithful teachers.</div><div><br></div><div>Parents are to be our first teachers. &nbsp;Prayer before reading the Word, asking for the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth, is absolutely necessary. &nbsp;A humble repentant heart&nbsp;always open to being changed and re-directed is also imperative.
