<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Ephesians 5;21-24<div><br></div><div><b>21. &nbsp;Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ.</b></div><div><b>22. &nbsp;Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord.</b></div><div><b>23. &nbsp;For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the Church, his body, and is himself its Savior.</b></div><div><b>24. &nbsp;As the Church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>To <i>“be subject” </i>to another, is not about worth or value. &nbsp;It is about roll,&nbsp;responsibility, and duty. &nbsp;Many servants exceed those whom they serve in character, love,&nbsp;and devotion. &nbsp;Such can never be the case with the Church and her Lord, to whom she is <i>“subject in everything.” &nbsp;</i>The perfection of the love freely given us by our Lord Jesus is just that, perfect. &nbsp;&nbsp;<i>“When you&nbsp;have done all&nbsp;that is commanded you,&nbsp;say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.” </i>(Luke 17;10)</div><div><br></div><div>But, the concept of being “subject” is not&nbsp;about the character or worthiness of those in authority. &nbsp;We &nbsp;pull over and stop&nbsp;when a police car with lights flashing appears in our rear view mirror, not because we know the police person. &nbsp;We know nothing of the person wearing the uniform and badge. &nbsp;It is the uniform and badge which is&nbsp;representing&nbsp;the very authority of God, which we respect and honor.</div><div><br></div><div>So too in marriage, we are&nbsp;to be subject to one another because each, both the husband AND the wife are in the place of God to the other, not because they personally&nbsp;are always worthy or deserving of our obedience and service. &nbsp;&nbsp;The husband is to&nbsp;reflect God, as&nbsp;he is&nbsp;in the place of God. &nbsp;His love is to&nbsp;interpose itself&nbsp;between wife and children and all evil. &nbsp;His job is to die if necessary&nbsp;for the sake of their protection as Christ died for us. &nbsp;The wife is also in the place of God toward her husband, but in a different roll and duty. &nbsp;She&nbsp;reflects God to her husband and children as&nbsp;she continually labors to serve their earthly needs for food and clothing, just as Christ nourishes and shelters us with himself and his righteousness.</div><div><br></div><div>Therefore, being <i>“subject to one another” </i>is done <i>“</i><i>out of reverence for Christ.” &nbsp;</i>We recognize our Lord Jesus in each other and the rolls each fulfills for the sake of the other.<i></i></div><div><br></div><div>It is the <i>“head” </i>which speaks words of life,&nbsp;comfort, encouragement, and instruction. &nbsp;Therefore, as Christ has spoken to his Bride the Church, so in marriage, the husband is to be the ‘teacher’ giving words of&nbsp;love and life to his bride and family. &nbsp;Husbands are tasked by God to be spiritual leaders&nbsp;and teachers of their wives and children. &nbsp;It is the Father/husband’s job to organize the family schedule so as to create time for daily teaching and worship, and ensure the schedule is kept. &nbsp;<i>“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.” &nbsp;</i>(Matthew 6;33)</div><div><br></div><div>(It is the ‘Body’ of the wife/mother which nourishes and sustains her husband and children.)</div><div><br></div><div>As such, a husband’s words&nbsp;are to be respected and obeyed, for they ‘save’ the family from both physical and spiritual death. &nbsp;Obedience means life; <i>“and teach them to ‘obey’ everything that I have commanded you.” &nbsp;</i>(Matthew 28;20) &nbsp;Likewise, a husband is to be&nbsp;‘with’ his family always, so that they are always&nbsp;under his protecting love. &nbsp;To be ‘with’ the wife and family, does not only mean to be present physically, but it means to hold his wife and children first in his heart, after the Lord. &nbsp;He is to do everything for their well-being, never allowing anything to take their place.</div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, deliver us we pray from unfaithfulness to You and the rolls,&nbsp;responsibilities, and duties you have given us&nbsp;toward one another. &nbsp;Assure us, that it is Christ who is&nbsp;seen in each one of us as we answer our calling. &nbsp;In Jesus we pray, Amen.</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric</div><div>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. &nbsp;God’s Word is our habitation and we are His.”<br><br><div><a href="https://mail.onelink.me/107872968?pid=nativeplacement&amp;c=Global_Acquisition_YMktg_315_Internal_EmailSignature&amp;af_sub1=Acquisition&amp;af_sub2=Global_YMktg&amp;af_sub3=&amp;af_sub4=100000604&amp;af_sub5=EmailSignature__Static_" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>
