<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Mark 1;29-31<div><br></div><div><b>29. &nbsp;And immediately he left the synagogue, and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.</b></div><div><b>30. &nbsp;Now Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick with a fever, and immediately they told him of her.</b></div><div><b>31. &nbsp;And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her; and she served them.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>The home of Simon and Andrew may have been the house Jesus continued to use&nbsp;as his base of operations in Galilee, (or Jesus and his disciples may have made another place his home away from home). &nbsp;At any rate, Caperna-um, not Nazareth was where Jesus most frequently returned when he was in the north of Israel.</div><div><br></div><div>Two things to note in these verses:</div><div>First, Jesus called (some)&nbsp;married men to be his disciples. &nbsp; Therefore, being able to manage a family household is recognized as a qualifier for being eligible to be a leader in the Church. &nbsp;(1 Timothy 3;1-5 and 1 Corinthians 9;5)</div><div>Therefore the requirement of celibacy imposed upon young men seeking to serve the Lord as ministers is without scriptural warrant.</div><div>Second, upon being healed, Simon&nbsp;Peter’s mother-in-law arose and served the Lord. &nbsp;(Notice, Jesus touched her in her sickness and the sickness left her. &nbsp;Remember, He does not touch demon possessed people.) &nbsp;The healing touch of&nbsp;Jesus calls us into service.</div><div><br></div><div>We all have been spiritually&nbsp;healed by Christ in our baptism into him. &nbsp;We are one with the One who came not to be served, but to serve. &nbsp;When Christians offer service to others, it is Christ within us inspiring that service. &nbsp;To God be all the glory. &nbsp;There is great joy in serving. &nbsp;It may be exhausting to the flesh, but it is refreshment to the spirit. &nbsp;We are fulfilling our purpose as children of God.</div><div><br></div><div>The flesh seeks to be served, not serve. &nbsp;Beware the desire to avoid serving, it is not the new man who &nbsp;dodges opportunities to use these temples to God’s glory. &nbsp;(Ephesians 2;10)</div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: Merciful Father, bless us to embrace the calls to volunteer which come to us, especially in the local congregation, and find the joy of serving as healed children of God. &nbsp;Bless us to know selfless service shows the world and the devil, Christ is&nbsp;at work in his Bride the Church. &nbsp;In Jesus we pray, Amen.</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric</div><div>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. &nbsp;God’s Word is our habitation, and we are His.”<br><br><div><a href="https://mail.onelink.me/107872968?pid=nativeplacement&amp;c=Global_Acquisition_YMktg_315_Internal_EmailSignature&amp;af_sub1=Acquisition&amp;af_sub2=Global_YMktg&amp;af_sub3=&amp;af_sub4=100000604&amp;af_sub5=EmailSignature__Static_" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>
