<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Mark 2;23-28<div><br></div><div><b>23. &nbsp;One sabbath he was going through the grain fields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck ears of grain.</b></div><div><b>24. &nbsp;And the Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?”</b></div><div><b>25. &nbsp;And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him:</b></div><div><b>26. &nbsp;how he entered the house of God, when Abithar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?”</b></div><div><b>27. &nbsp;And he said to them, “The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath;</b></div><div><b>28. &nbsp;so the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.”</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>God gave command through Moses that the sabbath was to be a day of rest. &nbsp;<i>“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. &nbsp;Six days you shall labor, and do all your work; but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your manservant, or your maid servant, or your cattle, or the sojourner who is within your gates; for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it.” &nbsp;</i>(Exodus 20;8-11)</div><div><br></div><div>The Pharisees believed that&nbsp;by&nbsp;doing no work on the sabbath, they were keepers of the law of God. &nbsp;That they were righteous through their own obedience to the sabbath. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Jesus exposes us all as law breakers in our hearts. &nbsp;In our hearts we all lust and kill. &nbsp;Therefore those who rely upon their own keeping of the law&nbsp;are lost, the law cannot ever&nbsp;make them&nbsp;righteous. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Only Jesus ever kept the law perfectly in his words, heart, and actions. &nbsp;If we are to rightly keep the sabbath rest which&nbsp;God has created for us, we must ‘rest’ in the finished work of Christ. &nbsp;Therefore, every day in which we are trusting in Christ’s righteousness for our soul’s salvation, is a sabbath rest. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>By faith, we are keeping sabbath rest every day. &nbsp;Christ <u>is</u>&nbsp;our sabbath.</div><div><br></div><div>Setting aside a special day to gather and hear and receive&nbsp;this Good News, is not an act of self-righteousness. &nbsp;We cannot stand before God and claim a place in heaven because we went to church faithfully. &nbsp;Our hope is in what Jesus has done for us, not what we do to honor Him.</div><div>(see Romans 14;4-8, and Colossians 2;16-19)</div><div><br></div><div>We go to church not because we are required to by the law of God. &nbsp;We go to church because we love our Lord, his Word, and one another. &nbsp;We go to church as a witness to the world that Christ has died and risen for us. &nbsp;We go to church because the Holy Spirit draws us together as one in Christ. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><i>“For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup; you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”</i></div><div>(1 Corinthians 11;26)</div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Heavenly Father, you have created the ‘true sabbath rest for us, ’faith’ in the <u>finished work</u>&nbsp;of Jesus. &nbsp;Bless us to proclaim His death to the world&nbsp;through the receiving of Christ true Body and true Blood faithfully, and to teach Your life giving&nbsp;Word&nbsp;every day to every one. &nbsp;In Jesus we pray, Amen.</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric</div><div>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. &nbsp;God’s Word is our habitation, and we are His.”</div><div><br><div><a href="https://mail.onelink.me/107872968?pid=nativeplacement&amp;c=Global_Acquisition_YMktg_315_Internal_EmailSignature&amp;af_sub1=Acquisition&amp;af_sub2=Global_YMktg&amp;af_sub3=&amp;af_sub4=100000604&amp;af_sub5=EmailSignature__Static_" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>
