<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Mark 4;35-38<div><br></div><div><b>35. &nbsp;On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”</b><br><b>36. &nbsp;And leaving the crowd, they took him with them, just as he was, in the boat. &nbsp;And other boats were with him.</b></div><div><b>37. &nbsp;And a great storm of wind arose, and beat into the boat, so that the boat was already filling.</b></div><div><b>38. &nbsp;But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care if we perish?”</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>This account always reminds me of the children of Israel, who were called by God through Moses to leave slavery in Egypt and travel to the promised land of milk and honey. &nbsp;They encountered adversities on the way, and repeatedly accused Moses of bringing them into the wilderness to die. &nbsp;Adversity temps us to forget what God says to us, and even worse, temps us to believe our God does not care about us. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>For sinful humans, our&nbsp;present circumstances easily&nbsp;distract us from&nbsp;the Word of God. &nbsp;Remembering the promises of the&nbsp;Word of God in the midst of fearful conditions is truly a discipline which must be drilled into our fearful hearts. &nbsp;That is why we must learn the promises of God <u>by heart</u>. &nbsp;We must memorize them, review them continually, and treasure them. &nbsp;The promises of God, the Words of God, have the power to give us courage, strength, and focus which sees us through the storms of life to the glory of our Lord.</div><div><br></div><div><i>“No temptation shall come unto man which is not common unto man.&nbsp;<u>God <b>is </b>faithful, and he&nbsp;will not let&nbsp;you to be tempted beyond your strength,</u>&nbsp;but <u>with the temptation&nbsp;will also&nbsp;provide the way&nbsp;of escape,</u>&nbsp;that you may be able to&nbsp;endure it.” &nbsp;</i>(1 Corinthians 10;13)<i><u></u></i></div><div><br></div><div>The “way&nbsp;<i>of escape”</i>&nbsp;are the promises of God found in the Word of God. &nbsp;The Word of God is our refuge into which we escape when faced with&nbsp;temptations to doubt God’s good plans for our lives. &nbsp;This is why we must abide in the Word, it is our strong fortress when fears seek to overwhelm&nbsp;us.</div><div><br></div><div><i>“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, <u>through the knowledge of Him who called us to his own glory and excellence,</u>&nbsp; by which <u>He has granted to us His precious and </u><b>very great promises</b>, that <u>through these </u><b>you may escape</b>&nbsp;from the corruption that is in this Woolf because of passion,&nbsp;<u>and become partakers of the divine nature.”</u>&nbsp; </i>(2 Peter 1;3&amp;4)</div><div><br></div><div>When we recall the promises of God, our hearts are strengthened, and we are able to&nbsp;face fearful circumstances with courage and hope, and resist the temptations to doubt God’s goodness toward us, we become <i>“partakers of the divine nature”</i>. &nbsp;Christ is seen in us. &nbsp;We are lights in this dark world. &nbsp;Stand strong in God’s Word of promise&nbsp;when others are falling into fear.</div><div><br></div><div><i>“I know the plans I have for you” says the Lord, “plans for welfare&nbsp;</i>(good)<i>&nbsp;and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” &nbsp;</i>(Jeremiah 29;11)</div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, forgive us for our doubting Your good plans for us. &nbsp;Deliver us from the fears of our circumstances and bless us by faith to escape into&nbsp;in your Words of promise to us. &nbsp;Your plans for us are good. &nbsp;Strengthen us to see beyond our&nbsp;trouble,&nbsp;to&nbsp;Your goodness&nbsp;working&nbsp;in absolutely&nbsp;everything. &nbsp;This goodness&nbsp;which is ours always&nbsp;in&nbsp;Christ Jesus. &nbsp;Calm and quiet us, we pray, in Jesus. &nbsp;<i>“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give you, not as the world gives, do I give unto you. &nbsp;Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” </i>(John 14;27).&nbsp;Amen.</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric</div><div>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. &nbsp;God’s Word is our habitation (refuge and way of escape) and we are His, (that we<i>&nbsp;partake of the divine nature</i>). &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><br><div><a href="https://mail.onelink.me/107872968?pid=nativeplacement&amp;c=Global_Acquisition_YMktg_315_Internal_EmailSignature&amp;af_sub1=Acquisition&amp;af_sub2=Global_YMktg&amp;af_sub3=&amp;af_sub4=100000604&amp;af_sub5=EmailSignature__Static_" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>
