<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Mark 5;1-10<div><br></div><div><b>1. &nbsp;They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes.</b></div><div><b>2. &nbsp;And when he had come out of the boat, there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,</b></div><div><b>3. &nbsp;who lived among the tombs; and no one could bind him any more, even with a chain;</b></div><div><b>4. &nbsp;for he had often been bound with fetters and chains, but the chains he wrenched apart, and the fetters he broke in pieces; and no one had the strength to subdue him.</b></div><div><b>5. &nbsp;Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out, and bruising himself with stones.</b></div><div><b>6. &nbsp;and when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped him;</b></div><div><b>7. &nbsp;and crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? &nbsp;I adjure you by God, do not torment me.”</b></div><div><b>8. &nbsp;For he had said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”</b></div><div><b>9. &nbsp;And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” &nbsp;He replied, “My name is Legion; for we are many.”</b></div><div><b>10. &nbsp;And he begged him eagerly not to send them out of the country.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>The demons know who Jesus is, and cannot help but confess it. &nbsp;They know they are subject to Christ, but they hate Him and continually seek to oppose Him.</div><div><br></div><div>Never think that when demon possessed&nbsp;people approach Jesus, they do so for the purpose of honoring Him. &nbsp;Whenever a demon speaks, he speaks to deceive onlooking humans. &nbsp;The same holds true about their behavior. &nbsp;Although the text says, <i>“he ran and worshiped </i>(Jesus) <i>him” </i>the demon did so not because he sought to honor Jesus, but because his master Satan is ever seeking to destroy Jesus and those who follow Him. &nbsp;His drawing near was for the purpose of opposing Jesus. &nbsp;This is false worship, it appeared to the disciples as worship, but it was really warfare.</div><div><br></div><div>When the demon calls&nbsp;Jesus, <i>“Son of the Most High God.” </i>the demon is not worshiping Jesus, he is taking the holy name of Jesus and the Most High God upon unclean lips. &nbsp;This is defiling the name of Jesus and the Father. &nbsp;Like a perfect flower thrown into a septic tank, it does not belong there. &nbsp;The Name&nbsp;belongs to us &nbsp;&nbsp;Who have been cleansed, and for us to&nbsp;use and proclaim, not the demons.</div><div><br></div><div>Notice how the demon slanders both&nbsp;Jesus and the Father&nbsp;saying, <i>“I adjure you by God, do not torment me.”</i></div><div>See how wickedly the hate filled&nbsp;demon uses the name of God, as if he had true&nbsp;reverence for the Father. &nbsp;It is as if the demon is claiming the Father’s protection and&nbsp;help from this ‘evil Messiah’ who wickedly was seeking to <i>“torment” </i>the ‘poor helpless&nbsp;demon’. &nbsp;Satan will indeed&nbsp;misuse the name of God, beware of wicked unbelievers who attempt to use God’s name or holy scripture to oppose the truth. Those who do are demonically inspired.</div><div><br></div><div>Jesus will indeed be the just Judge of all the forces of Hell and all who serve Satan’s will. &nbsp;But, Jesus has come not yet to Judge, but to save us all from our enemies, sin, death,&nbsp;the devil, this world, and our own flesh.
