<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Mark 6;1-3<div><br></div><div><b>1. &nbsp;He went away from there and came to his own country; and his disciples followed him.</b></div><div><b>2. &nbsp;And on the sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue; and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get all this? &nbsp;What is the wisdom given to him? &nbsp;What mighty works are wrought by his hands!</b></div><div><b>3. &nbsp;Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Jose’s, and Judas, and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” &nbsp;And they took offense at him.</b></div><div><br></div><div>Believe it or not, John the Baptist came dangerously close to committing this same&nbsp;sin (see, Matthew 11;2-6)&nbsp;these fellow citizens&nbsp;from in and around Nazareth were now committing. &nbsp;Their sin was rejecting Jesus’ divinity, and his Office as the Messiah, our Savior, the Son of God AND<span>&nbsp;the Son of man.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>The difference between John the Baptist&nbsp;(being in danger of doubting who Jesus was) and the citizens from Nazareth, was that John was eagerly looking for the final Judgement of God, the Day of Reconning, when all sinful&nbsp;and wicked rebellion against God would forever come to an end. &nbsp;The Day the Christ would gather His wheat into His grain wry and burn the chaff with unquenchable fire.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>When Jesus failed to bring Judgement upon the world, John the Baptist struggled and wondered whether Jesus was the Christ. &nbsp;</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Whereas that citizens of Nazareth were convinced they already knew who Jesus was, <i>“is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary?”</i></span></div><div><span><i><br></i></span></div><div><span>By calling Jesus (just) a ‘carpenter’ (a humble lowly person who works with senseless wood, not much above being a lowly&nbsp;shepherd who&nbsp;works&nbsp;with stupid sheep), they were in essence saying, ‘He is no one special and&nbsp;</span><span>j</span><span>ust one of ‘</span><span>us’.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Even worse, to call Jesus, <i>‘Mary’s son’ </i>was to &nbsp;remind&nbsp;everyone in Nazareth, that no one knew who Jesus father was. &nbsp;(Mary was already&nbsp;pregnant when she married&nbsp;Joseph.)&nbsp;</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>When Jesus asked his disciples, <i>“Who do you say that I am?” &nbsp;</i>Peter answered, <i>“Thou art the Christ, the Son of God.”</i>&nbsp; Which of course is the right answer. &nbsp;In saying this Peter was affirming the Divine Union of God in flesh, true God AND true man at the same time! &nbsp;Such knowledge (faith)&nbsp;is God’s gift to us all. &nbsp;It does not come from human reasoning.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Those who are offended to even consider&nbsp;Jesus’ divinity, and take offense at Him, forfeit ‘The Blessing’. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Even more to the point from today’s reading is the idea, that, <i>“Nothing good can come out of Nazareth”. </i>(John 1;46). &nbsp;This bad&nbsp;attitude extends from&nbsp;the citizens of Nazareth all the way to you and me.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>We ourselves struggle to believe that&nbsp;God, by Jesus Christ,&nbsp;through&nbsp;the Holy Spirit,&nbsp; dwells in us&nbsp;Believers.</span></div><div><span>Please read, John 17;22&amp;23, Colossians 1;27, and Ephesians 3;16-19.</span></div><div><span>When we doubt Christ’s indwelling us, we too risk</span><span>&nbsp;being offended at Jesus and missing The Blessing!</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Prayer: &nbsp;O LORD God, have mercy on us.&nbsp;Bless us to believe in You indwelling us in Christ, by the Holy Spirit. &nbsp;In Jesus we pray, Amen.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Love,</span></div><div><span>Dad/Baba/Eric</span></div><div><span>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</span></div><div><span>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. &nbsp;God’s Word is our habitation, and we ARE His.”</span></div><div><br><br><div><a href="https://mail.onelink.me/107872968?pid=nativeplacement&amp;c=Global_Acquisition_YMktg_315_Internal_EmailSignature&amp;af_sub1=Acquisition&amp;af_sub2=Global_YMktg&amp;af_sub3=&amp;af_sub4=100000604&amp;af_sub5=EmailSignature__Static_" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>
