<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Mark 6;53-56<div><br></div><div><b>53. &nbsp;And when they had crossed over, they came to the land at Gennesaret , and they moored to the shore.</b></div><div><b>54. &nbsp;And when they got out of the boat, immediately the people recognized him,</b></div><div><b>55. &nbsp;and ran about the whole neighborhood and began to bring sick people on their pallets to any place where they heard he was.</b></div><div><b>56. &nbsp;And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or country, they laid their sick in the market places, and besought him that they might even touch the fringe of his garment; and as many as touched it were made well.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>We begin to realize the difficulties Jesus faced in teaching his disciples. &nbsp;He was causing great crowds to form wherever He went now. &nbsp;Chiefly, the people had come to recognize Jesus as a great healer for those who suffered from&nbsp;various diseases and unclean spirits.</div><div><br></div><div>Humans understand pain and disabilities of the flesh very well. &nbsp;They are the symptoms of death now at&nbsp;work&nbsp;in our flesh. &nbsp;Our nervous system is hard wired into our brains in such a way that physical suffering is continually demanding something be done to ease the suffering. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Oh, how I wish our souls had such a sensitivity to sin and sloth? &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Jesus came first to forgive our sins, cleansing our souls, so that they be fit dwelling places for Him to live in us by&nbsp;the Holy Spirit. &nbsp;But, He also came to redeem our dying flesh, and raise it glorified and immortal, never to know sickness or death again. He does this by letting us be joined to His own death, so that our souls be delivered from eternal death immediately in Baptism.</div><div><br></div><div>Jesus cares for the whole of us, body and soul, but it is the soul which must first be healed, otherwise, there is no clean place in us for Him to dwell. &nbsp;Healing power&nbsp;virtually radiated out of Jesus, our Lord of Life. &nbsp;Physical contact with Him, even the fringe of His garments, connected many&nbsp;who touched Him with the very creative, life giving power of God.&nbsp; But, all such physical healings were only temporary. &nbsp;All must eventually grow old and suffer physical death.</div><div><br></div><div>Did those who touched Him and received physical healing,&nbsp;also receive forgiveness of sin? &nbsp;No, not necessarily. &nbsp;They received a witness to their hearts and souls that ‘this man is from God.’&nbsp;&nbsp;Believing He is also the One who heals the soul was not on most people’s radar so to speak.</div><div><br></div><div>There is a soul healing touch that God touches us with though. &nbsp;It comes not by touching ancient relics, but&nbsp;through the water and the Word of holy Baptism. &nbsp;That is why Jesus commanded his disciple/apostles to <i>“make disciples” </i>through Baptism and teaching. &nbsp;The Ministry of the Word first cleanses the soul, then the Lord of Life enters.</div><div><br></div><div>Note: One of the towns of this region was ‘Magda.’ &nbsp;This may well have been the time when Mary Magdalene was cleansed of her demons and began to follow Jesus. &nbsp;For, those who are cleansed of soul and spirit, follow Him.</div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: O most Merciful Heavenly Father, by nature, we do not understand the deadness and sickness of our human condition. &nbsp;Thank you for the Light of Your Word and Holy Spirit which enlighten us to be your dwelling place, through Jesus Christ our Lord. &nbsp;Amen.</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric</div><div>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, ever day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. &nbsp;God’s Word is our dwelling place, and we are His.”<br><br><div><a href="https://mail.onelink.me/107872968?pid=nativeplacement&amp;c=Global_Acquisition_YMktg_315_Internal_EmailSignature&amp;af_sub1=Acquisition&amp;af_sub2=Global_YMktg&amp;af_sub3=&amp;af_sub4=100000604&amp;af_sub5=EmailSignature__Static_" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>
