<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Mark 9;20-24<div><br></div><div><b>20. &nbsp;And they brought the boy to him; and when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy,</b></div><div><b>and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth.</b></div><div><b>21. &nbsp;And Jesus asked his father, “How long has he had this?” &nbsp;And he said, “From childhood.&nbsp;</b></div><div><b>22. &nbsp;And it has often cast him into the fire and into the water, to destroy him; but if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us.”</b></div><div><b>23. &nbsp;And Jesus said to him, “If you can! &nbsp;All things are possible to him who believes.”</b></div><div><b>24. &nbsp;Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”</b></div><div><br></div><div>Is it not a wonder that the demons instantly know who Jesus is, but human beings are uncertain?</div><div>The Day is coming when all uncertainty will disappear. On that Day, <i>“every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that ‘Jesus Christ is Lord,’ to the glory of God the Father.” </i>(Philippians 2;10&amp;11)</div><div>The unbelievers who denied Jesus will make this confession too, but it will be to their eternal shame and sorrow.</div><div><br></div><div>The father of the demon possessed boy himself,&nbsp;after seeing Jesus’ disciple unable to cast out the demon,</div><div>was unsure, uncertain whether even Jesus could cast out the demon. &nbsp;His faith in Jesus was mingled with doubt. &nbsp;Notice, I did not write, ‘his faith was not strong enough.’</div><div><br></div><div>Our problem is not that God has not given us a ‘strong enough faith’. &nbsp; Faith is the perfect, complete gift of God. &nbsp;We have been given faith, but the problem is that we have also retained the old sinful nature. &nbsp;Our old sinful nature continues to&nbsp;abide in doubt and unbelief. &nbsp;This is why the old-man must daily be drowned, the deeds of the body, (unbelief) must be by the Spirit&nbsp;put to death, (see, Romans 8;13)</div><div><br></div><div>To <i>“walk in newness of life”</i>&nbsp;(Romans 6;4) means that we by faith abide in Christ. &nbsp;Another word for ‘abide in Christ’ is to ‘dwell in Him’&nbsp;<u>and</u>&nbsp;‘His Words dwell in you’. (see,&nbsp;John 15;7)<u></u></div><div><br></div><div>This is much more than just human&nbsp;positive thinking. &nbsp;Abiding in, dwelling in Christ, is an act of faith, it is meta-physical. &nbsp;It is being in and of the Mind of Christ, devoted totally to the will of God the Father.</div><div><br></div><div>Dwelling completely&nbsp;in Christ is rare. &nbsp;Most of us hold dual citizenship in both the old-man and the new. &nbsp;Our baptism <u>into Christ</u>, is given us, so that the power of Christ’s death to sin would continually&nbsp;be inspiring us to true, full self-denial. &nbsp;Our baptism into Christ means death to the old-man. &nbsp;To doubt Jesus and God’s great good plans for us,&nbsp;is sin. &nbsp;Faith puts us in the Mind of Christ, whereby we are continually praying, <i>“Not my will, but Thine, be done.” </i>This <u>is</u>&nbsp;the <i>“Abba! Father!”</i>&nbsp;prayer, &nbsp;<i>“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. &nbsp;For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the the spirit of sonship. &nbsp;When we cry, ‘Abba!
