<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Mark 9;30-32<div><br></div><div><b>30. &nbsp;They went on from there and passed through Galilee. &nbsp;And he would not have anyone know it;</b></div><div><b>31. &nbsp;for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him; and where he is killed,&nbsp;after three days he will rise.”</b></div><div><b>32. &nbsp;But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to ask him.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>It would seem that what the disciples had been longing for ever since the death of John the Baptist, (quality time alone with their Teacher), was now being given to them. &nbsp;Jesus deliberately&nbsp;took them privately through Galilee, avoiding the crowds. &nbsp;But instead of this being a time of&nbsp;comforting rest, Jesus&nbsp;frighten them&nbsp;terribly,&nbsp;&nbsp;so much so that they kept themselves from being honest and open&nbsp;with him about their fears! &nbsp;Their beloved John the Baptist was dead and now their Teacher is speaking to them of His own death!</div><div><br></div><div>How desperately Jesus wanted his disciples to grasp the essence and centrality of His coming atoning sacrifice. &nbsp;He wanted them to understand how greatly they were/are loved, and, in response to be equally&nbsp;loved by them and us.</div><div><br></div><div>The very heart of God beats for us as&nbsp;Father, Brother, Husband, and&nbsp;friend. &nbsp;Desire for intimacy, communion, fellowship, and perfect&nbsp;concord, are the yearnings of the heart of God, shown to us in Jesus.</div><div><br></div><div>In the Old Testament, God through the prophet Jeremiah says,</div><div>&nbsp; <i>“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant which they broke, though I was their husband, says the LORD. &nbsp;But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: &nbsp;I will put my law within them, and will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. &nbsp;And no&nbsp;longer shall each man teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’&nbsp; for <u>they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”</u></i></div><div><u></u>(Jeremiah 31;31-34)<i>&nbsp;</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div>This desire to be known, and to be loved as He loves us, is at the heart of all that God does.</div><div><br></div><div>As a parent, grand parent, and great grand parent, I must content myself that perhaps someday, after I am dead, all my children will really&nbsp;know me,&nbsp;how I have loved them,&nbsp;all that I desire for them to know&nbsp;how God has loved them. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Love keeps going, even when full intimacy,&nbsp;oneness, and agreement does not yet exist between us.</div><div><br></div><div>So too with Jesus, He kept going to the cross&nbsp;out of His own love and faith&nbsp;for His disciples and for us, though they and we&nbsp;do not comprehend the magnitude of that love. &nbsp;His faith was&nbsp;that the day would come when we all <u>would</u>&nbsp;fully know Him, even as we have been fully known, and be fully one with Him. &nbsp;This is what&nbsp;compelled Him, even while that oneness did not yet&nbsp;exist.</div><div><br></div><div><i>“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. &nbsp;Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.” &nbsp;</i>(1 Corinthians 13;12)</div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, we praise You that Your&nbsp;love never ends. &nbsp;Grant us now, who are <u>in Christ</u>, to keep going, though none seem to understand. &nbsp;In Jesus we pray, Amen.</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric</div><div>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A.
