<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Mark 11;1-6<div><br></div><div><b>1. &nbsp;And when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,</b></div><div><b>2. &nbsp;and Said to them, “Go Into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat; untie it and bring it.</b></div><div><b>3. &nbsp;If anyone says to you, ‘Why Are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord Has need of it and will send it back here immediately.”</b></div><div><b>4. &nbsp;And they went away, and found the colt tied at the door out in the open street; And they untied it.</b></div><div><b>5. &nbsp;And those who stood there said to them, “What Are you doing, untying the colt?”</b></div><div><b>6. &nbsp;And they told them what Jesus had said; and they let them go.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>Jesus always walked. &nbsp;No where do we read he rode anything. &nbsp;But, today He enters Jerusalem as ‘King’.</div><div><br></div><div>As it is written in the prophet Zechariah, <i>“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! &nbsp;Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on an ass, on a colt the foal of an ass.” &nbsp;</i>(9;9)</div><div><br></div><div>In this same way king David made it clear to all Israel and Judah that his son Solomon was to be king after him, not his brother Adonijah. &nbsp;(see, 1 Kings 1;33, read verses 5-53 for full context)</div><div><br></div><div>Notice in the prophet Zechariah that Jesus enters Jerusalem <u>already</u>&nbsp;triumphant and victorious, yet, His final battle,&nbsp;the crucifixion is still before him.</div><div><br></div><div>From this we learn that once holy Scripture is written, it is as sure and certain as if it was already history, even before it is accomplished in time. &nbsp;The Word of God is the great reality, greater than reality itself. &nbsp;God’s Word stands imperishable, unchanging for all eternity. &nbsp;Future reality is bound by Scripture.</div><div><br></div><div>What therefore does holy Scripture say concerning you and me? &nbsp;What did Jesus say?</div><div><i>“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes <u>has</u>&nbsp;eternal life.” &nbsp;</i>(John 6;47)</div><div><br></div><div>Notice, &nbsp;Jesus did not say ‘will have’ eternal life sometime in the future. &nbsp;Jesus says, <i>“has eternal life.”</i></div><div>The gift of faith which you confess in the Apostles Creed, means you now have forgiveness,&nbsp;holiness, and the Holy Spirit within you. &nbsp;You now have God the Father and Jesus&nbsp;Christ, by the Holy Spirit dwelling within you. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Jesus said, <i>“If a man&nbsp;loves me, he&nbsp;will keep my Word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” &nbsp;</i>(John 14;23). &nbsp;We know we love Jesus, because we flee to Him for refuge and life. &nbsp;In their guilt and sin, Adam and Eve fled <u>from&nbsp;</u>God. &nbsp;In our uncleanness, in our shame, and in repentance, we flee <u>to Him</u>, confessing our sin and seeking His mercies, which are new every morning.<i></i></div><div><br></div><div>We flee to&nbsp;Jesus every time we open our Bibles and read, every time we enter Divine Service at church,</div><div>every time we bow our heads and hearts in prayer, we are ‘fleeing to Jesus,’ the One who rode the colt, the foal of an ass,&nbsp;into Jerusalem as our true eternal victorious, triumphant King. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>We,&nbsp;like the unsuspecting bystanders, (who saw&nbsp;the disciples untie the ass) yield to the will of the Lord.</div><div>We know he is our King eternal, the Son of David, the Son of God. &nbsp;We know all things belong to Him, including our own forgiven souls and bodies. &nbsp;We know our Lord has need of these which&nbsp;He has given us. &nbsp;He has freed us from our bonds and called us to Him. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Like blind Bartimaeus, we throw off our dusty beggars&nbsp;cloak, and run to him, even though we have not yet seen Him. &nbsp;God’s Word, the holy Scripture have already been written concerning us, and in faith,&nbsp;(though still not seeing Him), we&nbsp;hear His call, and come running to&nbsp;present ourselves to Him, a living sacrifice made holy and acceptable.</div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, make us this day to be the new&nbsp;‘colt’&nbsp;You ride, proclaiming Jesus King Eternal. &nbsp;In Jesus we pray, Amen.</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric</div><div>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. &nbsp;God’s Word is our habitation, and we are His.”</div><div><br><br><br><div><a href="https://mail.onelink.me/107872968?pid=nativeplacement&amp;c=Global_Acquisition_YMktg_315_Internal_EmailSignature&amp;af_sub1=Acquisition&amp;af_sub2=Global_YMktg&amp;af_sub3=&amp;af_sub4=100000604&amp;af_sub5=EmailSignature__Static_" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>
