<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Mark 14;10&amp;11<div><br></div><div><b>10. &nbsp;Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them.</b></div><div><b>11. &nbsp;And when they heard it they were glad, and promised to give him money. &nbsp;And he sought an opportunity to betray him.</b></div><div><br></div><div><span>There are many&nbsp;aspects&nbsp;of our Christian&nbsp;life, (in&nbsp;which the Holy Spirit is&nbsp;inspiring&nbsp;us) to bring&nbsp;into control as&nbsp;we&nbsp;follow Jesus.</span></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Our bodies, our use of our time, our aspirations,&nbsp;our speech, our relationships with others (especially family)&nbsp;and&nbsp;our money, to name a few. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Concerning money,&nbsp;Jesus teaches us, <i>“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. &nbsp;You cannot serve God and mammon.”</i></div><div>(Matthew 6;24)</div><div><br></div><div>Judas loved and was devoted to mammon. &nbsp;He traded his soul for 30 pieces of silver.</div>Bringing our finances into control is an essential work of God the Holy Spirit within us. &nbsp;If we refuse to give to God, believing we cannot afford to give, we are deceived. &nbsp;We cannot afford not to give to God!<div>To refuse to be a ‘giver’ is to resist God’s very presence within us. &nbsp;It grieves the Holy Spirit.</div><div><br></div><div>Are we to give only to the church? &nbsp;No, giving to those in need is one of God’s greatest joys for us to share in an we&nbsp;walk by the Spirit. &nbsp;&nbsp;According to Matthew, our salvation depends on whether&nbsp;we cared for others!</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Jesus said,&nbsp;</div><div><i>“When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.</i></div><div><i>Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will place the sheep at&nbsp;his right hand, but the goats at the left. &nbsp;Then the king will say to those at his right hand, &nbsp;‘Come, O&nbsp;blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundations of the world; for I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink, I was a stranger, and you welcomed me, I was naked, and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div><i>Then the righteous will answer him, ‘ Lord, when did we see Thee hungry and feed Thee, or thirsty and give Thee drink? &nbsp;And when did we see Thee&nbsp;a stranger and welcome Thee, or naked and clothe Thee? &nbsp;And when did we see Thee&nbsp;sick or in prison and visit Thee?’</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div><i>And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to Me.’&nbsp;</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div><i>Then he will say to those at his left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels; &nbsp;I was hungry, and you gave me no food, I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked&nbsp;and you did not clothe&nbsp;me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’&nbsp;</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div><i>Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see the hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to Thee?’</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div><i>Then He will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.’ &nbsp;And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.’ &nbsp;</i>(Matthew 25;31-46)</div><div><br></div><div>Our giving to others in need is the fruit of righteousness which&nbsp;God has given to us. &nbsp;It is evidence that Christ dwells in us by the Holy Spirit, and that our trust in God is greater than the&nbsp;love of money.</div><div><br></div><div>For the truly poor who are reading this, remember, God looks upon and judges our giving by what we have, not what we do not have. &nbsp;Even the poorest amongst us has something to give. &nbsp;Remember the widow’s mite, (see, Mark 12;41-44) and the widow of Zarephath, (see, 1 Kings 17;8-16).</div><div><br></div><div>The Romanian pastor,&nbsp;Reverend&nbsp;Richard Wurmbrand, a prisoner of the Communists, was&nbsp;subject to torture because he would not stop preaching Christ. &nbsp;He suffered&nbsp;terrible depravations, including starvation and brain washing. &nbsp;In his exhaustion he&nbsp;had nothing left&nbsp;at all to give to God. &nbsp;His own conscious thoughts were so confused, he could not even pray coherently. &nbsp;He realized this and&nbsp;in a moment of mental clarity, he said&nbsp;to God, ‘I have nothing left to give you dear Father except the beating of my loving heart. &nbsp;Lord, please accept it as my offering to You.’&nbsp;&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>I had the great&nbsp;honor of meeting this man.</div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, You have given Yourself into us. There are many aspects of our Christian life, (in which the Holy Spirit is inspiring us) to bring into control as we follow Jesus. Our bodies, our use of our time, our aspirations, our speech, our relationships with others (especially family) and our money, to name a few.  
Concerning money, Jesus teaches us, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and mammon.”(Matthew 6;24)
