And the curtain of the temple was torn into, from top to bottom.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>Both Matthew and Mark tell us of Jesus crying out loudly just before his death. (He also cried loudly, the first verse of Psalm 22.)<i></i></div><div><br></div><div>Neither Mathew or Mark tell us exactly what Jesus cried out at the last. &nbsp;But, in Luke we learn the Words of&nbsp;&nbsp;Jesus’ final utterance, <i>“while the sun’s light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. &nbsp;Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, ‘’<b>Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit!’</b>&nbsp;&nbsp;</i>(Luke 23; 45&amp;46)</div><div><br></div><div>(Returning to Mark)</div><div><b>39. &nbsp;And when the Centurion, who stood facing him, saw that he thus breathed his last, he said, “Truly, this man was the Son of God!”</b></div><div>The Luke passage helps us better understand why the Centurion said what he did. &nbsp;Jesus had just addressed His, “Father.” &nbsp; Remember yesterday, nearly everyone had given up on Jesus as the Messiah.</div><div>Pretty much the entire crowd saw Him as just a miserable deformed and dying&nbsp;man, just a man.</div><div><br></div><div>But now, in this final moment, the centurion also saw Jesus for who he truly was,&nbsp;<i>“The Son of God.” &nbsp;</i>Jesus addressed God as <u>His</u>&nbsp;Father. &nbsp;Jesus was fully and truly man, but He was also fully and truly God himself.</div><div>For all that belongs to the Father belongs to the Son. &nbsp;All the glory, honor, power, and praise of the whole of Creation,&nbsp;belongs to this poor, pitiful, tormented, dying man.</div><div><i><br></i></div><div>This is how depraved the entire human race is. &nbsp;This is how entirely the whole of the human race was fully partaking of the rebellion of Satan. &nbsp;We&nbsp;killed the Heir, the Son of God.&nbsp;&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Is it not a wonder, that God&nbsp;the Father at that&nbsp;moment,&nbsp;did not destroy the whole earth and everyone on it!?</div><div><br></div><div>Such is the divine love of God the Father. &nbsp;He is forbearing. &nbsp;He looks past the sin of the whole world and sees us cleansed, redeemed, and&nbsp;restored as His own dear children.</div><div><br></div><div>How necessary that we who have God’s name upon us also be a ‘forbearing people,’ forgiving as we have been forgiven, AND, seeing our enemies as our future friends and brethren.</div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Most&nbsp;merciful Father, grant us to be numbered among the crowd at Pentecost, who were fully convicted of their own guilt in killing the Lord of Life, the Christ of God. &nbsp;Bless us with broken and contrite hearts to cry out in true repentance, <i>“Brethren, what shall we do?”</i>&nbsp; (Acts 2;37&amp;38)&nbsp;&nbsp;And,&nbsp;grant that we be ‘doing’: &nbsp;Repent, Believe, and Live daily in Christ’s death and resurrection through our baptism into Christ.<i></i></div><div>In Jesus we pray, Amen.</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric</div><div>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. &nbsp;God’s Word is our habitation, and we are His.”</div><div><br><div><br></div><div><br><br><br><div><a href="https://mail.onelink.me/107872968?pid=nativeplacement&amp;c=Global_Acquisition_YMktg_315_Internal_EmailSignature&amp;af_sub1=Acquisition&amp;af_sub2=Global_YMktg&amp;af_sub3=&amp;af_sub4=100000604&amp;af_sub5=EmailSignature__Static_" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>
