<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Romans 1;9&amp;10<div><br></div><div><b>9. &nbsp;For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the Gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I mention you always in my prayers,&nbsp;</b></div><div><b>10. &nbsp;asking that somehow by God’s will I may now at least succeed in coming to you.</b></div><div><br></div><div>There are three ‘spirits’ operating in every Believer.</div><div><br></div><div>First, our own personal&nbsp;spirit, which amounts to our personal&nbsp;will and desire. &nbsp;It is the mind of the human soul, which is an eternal creation and gift&nbsp;of God to each one of us, but it has been corrupted by our sin nature.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>This personal spirit of ours can be dominated by the flesh, making us carnal minded, selfish, and sinful. &nbsp;And&nbsp;Secondly, our personal spirit&nbsp;can also be a new&nbsp;regenerated spirit.&nbsp;The regenerated personal&nbsp;spirit is by God’s grace brought into agreement with the will of God the Father. &nbsp;We see evidence of both of these&nbsp;in chapter 8 of this epistle:</div><div><br></div><div><i>“ For you did not receive the ‘spirit of slavery’, </i>(This is our sinful&nbsp;personal spirit dominated by the&nbsp;selfish flesh.) <i>to fall back into fear, but you have received the ‘spirit of sonship’ </i>(v. 15a).&nbsp;(This is our own&nbsp;regenerated personal spirit, which by God’s grace&nbsp;desires to do the will of the Father.&nbsp;<span>&nbsp;This is another way to say, ‘We&nbsp;have received&nbsp;</span><span>The Mind of Christ.’)</span></div><div><br></div><div>Paul here is saying that by God’s gracious regenerative work, our own personal spirit/will,&nbsp;(now by faith), may desire to do&nbsp;the will of the Father. &nbsp;This is ‘the spirit of sonship.’ &nbsp; It is the regenerated&nbsp;personal spirit now desiring to obey the will of the Father ‘willingly’ just as Jesus did. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>We too by God’s Grace are ‘sons of God’ with a personal spirit/will, which is&nbsp;in agreement and accord&nbsp;with the will of Jesus, the first-born Son. &nbsp;This is the ‘spirit of sonship.’</div><div><br></div><div><i>“When <u>we</u>&nbsp;cry, Abba! Father! It is the The </i>(Holy) <i>Spirit Himself bearing witness with our </i>(personal regenerated) <i>spirit that we are children of God!” </i>(vs. 15b&amp;16)</div><div><br></div><div>This quote from Romans 8, reveals that Thirdly, ‘The Holy Spirit’ is also given to us for our regenerated&nbsp;personal spirit to have fellowship with, and to&nbsp;commune with. &nbsp;They are in accord, agreement with each other, the Holy Spirit gives us the power to do what the personal regenerated spirit of itself can not do.</div><div>(see Romans 7;15-8;2). Ultimately, it is Christ, by the Holy Spirit who empowers us to newness of life, actually denying self and following Jesus, walking by the power of the&nbsp;(Holy) Spirit.</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;&nbsp;Christ himself&nbsp;as true man, also has His own&nbsp;‘personal spirit.’ &nbsp;<span>&nbsp;Jesus is truly and</span><span> fully</span><span> man (but without the corrupted sinful nature). &nbsp;Jesus’ own perfect human&nbsp;personal spirit</span><span>&nbsp;is apart from the Holy Spirit. &nbsp;His own personal spirit perfectly desires to do the will of the Father. &nbsp;(This is the His personal spirit of Sonship, which by the grace of God has been given, regenerated in us.)</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Together then, our regenerated personal spirits commune with Jesus’ own personal spirit and by the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, we are empowered to cry, <i>Abba! Romans 1;9&10
9.  For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the Gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I mention you always in my prayers, 10.  asking that somehow by God’s will I may now at least succeed in coming to you.
There are three ‘spirits’ operating in every Believer.
First, our own personal spirit, which amounts to our personal will and desire.  It is the mind of the human soul, which is an eternal creation and gift of God to each one of us, but it has been corrupted by our sin nature. 
This personal spirit of ours can be dominated by the flesh, making us carnal minded, selfish, and sinful.  And Secondly, our personal spirit can also be a new regenerated spirit. The regenerated personal spirit is by God’s grace brought into agreement with the will of God the Father.  We see evidence of both of these in chapter 8 of this epistle:
“ For you did not receive the ‘spirit of slavery’, (This is our sinful personal spirit dominated by the selfish flesh.) to fall back into fear, but you have received the ‘spirit of sonship’ (v. 15a). (This is our own regenerated personal spirit, which by God’s grace desires to do the will of the Father.  This is another way to say, ‘We have received The Mind of Christ.’)
Paul here is saying that by God’s gracious regenerative work, our own personal spirit/will, (now by faith), may desire to do the will of the Father.  This is ‘the spirit of sonship.’   It is the regenerated personal spirit now desiring to obey the will of the Father ‘willingly’ just as Jesus did.

“When we cry, Abba! Father! It is the The (Holy) Spirit Himself bearing witness with our (personal regenerated) spirit that we are children of God!” (vs. 15b&16)

  Christ himself as true man, also has His own ‘personal spirit.’   Jesus is truly and fully man (but without the corrupted sinful nature).  Jesus’ own perfect human personal spirit is apart from the Holy Spirit.  His own personal spirit perfectly desires to do the will of the Father.  (This is the His personal spirit of Sonship, which by the grace of God has been given, regenerated in us.)
