<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Correction to&nbsp;yesterday’s Verse of the Day&nbsp;7/15, &nbsp; v<span>erse 3,</span><span> Chapter 3, Romans, s</span><span>hould read:</span><div><b>3. &nbsp;What if some were unfaithful? &nbsp;Does their faith<u>less</u>ness&nbsp;</b>(not, faith<u>ful</u>ness)&nbsp;<b>nullify the faithfulness of God?</b></div><div>Please forgive this (and my many other)&nbsp;error(s).</div><div><br></div><div>Romans 3;5-8</div><div><br></div><div><b>5. &nbsp;But if our wickedness serves to show the justice of God, what shall we say? That God is unjust to inflict wrath on us? (I speak In a human way.)</b></div><div><b>6. &nbsp;By no means! For then how could&nbsp;God judge the world?</b></div><div><b>7. &nbsp;But if through my falsehood God‘s truthfulness abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner?</b></div><div><b>8. &nbsp;And why not do evil that good may come?—as some people slanderous charge us with saying. Their condemnation is just.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div><i>“For the time has come for judgement to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?” &nbsp;</i>(1 Peter 4;17)</div><div><br></div><div>God does and will judge the world. &nbsp;Even Believers suffer temporal consequences for their wickedness.</div><div>The difference is that Believers who repent of their wickedness escape eternal damnation. &nbsp;But if we commit&nbsp;&nbsp;murder, God will certainly allow us to go to prison (for correction, blessing, and fruitfulness). &nbsp;if we are adulterous, God will allow us to suffer great loss of the joys of spouse, home,&nbsp;and family life. &nbsp;Yet, still He desires for us to repent and come to the knowledge of the truth, and&nbsp;be forgiven. &nbsp;There remains&nbsp;hope.</div><div><br></div><div>If He did not punish the sinning Believer, He would be false and unfaithful to His own Law. &nbsp;Even so, whatever earthly consequences we suffer because of our wickedness, it is less than we deserve.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;I love the hymn “Rejoice, My Heart, Be Glad and Sing” (LSB #737&nbsp;stanza 5):</div><div><br></div><div><i>He only will with patience chide,</i></div><div><i>His rod falls gently down;</i></div><div><i>And all your sins He casts aside</i></div><div><i>In ocean depths to drown</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div>Please notice in verse 5, Paul says, <i>(I speak in a ‘human’ way.”)</i></div><div><br></div><div>What should we make of this? &nbsp;Are we not&nbsp;all (including Paul)&nbsp;‘human’? &nbsp;The answer of course is ‘Yes’, however, Paul and God, would have us to know that the enlightened Believer’s mind may now also be divine, the very <i>“mind of Christ.” </i>(see 1 Corinthians 2;16)</div><div><br></div><div>We now are able to view ourselves and others from heaven’s perspective. &nbsp;We, by God’s grace, the working of the Holy Spirit, and the revealed Truth of God’s Word, can be truly ‘enlightened.’</div><div><br></div><div>We are able, by faith, to discern,&nbsp;judge, condemn wickedness, and approve what is good in our temporal thoughts,&nbsp;emotions, and&nbsp;actions. &nbsp;</div><div>We can ask ourselves, “From where does this thought, emotion, or action originate?”</div><div>Is it coming from my old selfish&nbsp;carnal nature? &nbsp;Or, Is it from the New-man and&nbsp;in agreement with God’s Will as&nbsp;revealed in scripture?</div><div><br></div><div>Notice, Paul warns in verse 8 of today’s reading that those who think out of their selfish carnal nature are facing the just condemnation of God.<i></i></div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, grant that we abide in Your living Word so that we may by the Holy Spirit&nbsp;be enlightened with Your Truth, AND, <i>“destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God, and <u>take every thought captive to obey Christ.</u>” &nbsp;</i>(2 Corinthians 10;5)<i>&nbsp;</i></div><div><span>In Jesus we pray, Amen.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Love,</span></div><div><span>Dad/Baba/Eric</span></div><div><span>Grandpa Pickle Pastor</span></div><div><span>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. Correction to yesterday’s Verse of the Day 7/15,   verse 3, Chapter 3, Romans, should read:3.  What if some were unfaithful?  Does their faithlessness (not, faithfulness) nullify the faithfulness of God?Please forgive this (and my many other) error(s).
