Romans 3;27&28
27.  Then what becomes of our boasting?  It is excluded.  On what principle? On the principle of works?  No, but on the principle of faith.28.  For we hold that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the law.
‘We’ of ourselves have nothing to do with being “justified.”  It is all God’s doing from beginning to end throughout our lives.  Everything good that we do is the work of God in us.  (Philippians 2;13)
The good “works”  that we do are “God at work in you.”  So there can be no “boasting.”  (see, Ephesians 2;8&9)  We do not even ‘decide’ to ask Christ into our hearts.  He invades us while we are spiritually dead, (see, Ephesians 2;1) through the Word  which we “hear,” the “preaching of Christ”. (Romans 10;17)
By the time ‘we’ get around to praying and asking Christ into our hearts, He is already there!

Faith in its purest form is the gift of (from) God.  It is created by the Holy Spirit in our souls through the Word.  “It is not your own doing.”  (Ephesians 2;8&9)
