<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><br>Romans 6;6&amp;7<div><br></div><div><b>6. &nbsp;We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the sinful body might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.</b></div><div><b>7. &nbsp;For he who has died is freed from sin.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>Paul is here teaching us more about ‘spiritual time travel’.</div><div><br></div><div>He teaches that&nbsp;our&nbsp;<i>“old self” </i>(meaning our sinful, rebellious&nbsp;will)&nbsp;was,&nbsp;by baptism, transported back in time and died on the cross to sin,&nbsp;with Jesus.</div><div><br></div>This is so&nbsp;that we (born-anew&nbsp;in Christ) can now begin the new life, which is to&nbsp;deny the rule of <i>“old self” </i>and&nbsp;<i>“put to death the deeds of the body.” </i>(Romans 8;13)<div>This is what Paul is referring to when he says, <i>“so that the body might be destroyed, and we might&nbsp;no longer&nbsp;</i><br><div><i>be enslaved to sin.”</i></div><div><br></div><div>We have the gift of Christ’s death, and the power of His resurrection,&nbsp;for the purpose of exercising the dominion of God over our mortal bodies. In Christ we are destroying the&nbsp;slavery to&nbsp;sin&nbsp;our&nbsp;mortal&nbsp;bodies have been suffering from<span>. &nbsp;Not by&nbsp;</span><span>committing&nbsp;</span><span>suicide, but by</span><span>&nbsp;denying</span><span> the </span><i>“old self.” &nbsp;</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div><span>Our bodies are still mortal, (doomed to die), but the born-anew-self, now&nbsp;alive in Christ,&nbsp;is&nbsp;able to exercise dominion over these bodies which were&nbsp;enslaved to sin. &nbsp;This destroying of&nbsp;the rule of sin in our mortal bodies amounts to the ultimate destruction of the old-flesh.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>&nbsp;In the resurrection, the bodies we will be given will be immortal, glorified bodies. &nbsp;Therefore, as Believers, we do not fear the destruction of the</span><span>&nbsp;old mortal flesh. &nbsp;</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>As one theologian has said, ‘Physical death is nothing more&nbsp;than&nbsp;a change of locations.’ &nbsp;(Out of this dying world and these dying bodies, into the glorious presence of the immortal, eternal, loving Father Son and Holy Spirit, and new celestial bodies, which in the resurrection will be robed with glorified immortal flesh.)</span></div><div><i></i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div><div>Our&nbsp;death with Christ to the <i>“old self”&nbsp;</i>is liberating. &nbsp;It sets us prisoners&nbsp;free as born anew children of God.&nbsp;&nbsp;We must no&nbsp;longer&nbsp;fear&nbsp;mortal death. &nbsp;We are&nbsp;free from the dominion of sin. &nbsp;We now share in the glorious freedom of Christ and the very righteousness of God. &nbsp;We have (by baptism)&nbsp;already&nbsp;been raised with Christ to eternal life, the <i>“old self” </i>is crucified, the new man walks now by faith <u>in Christ indwelling us and we indwelling Him.</u>&nbsp; Our mortal bodies are not really us, (our real life is hidden in Christ). <i>“For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” &nbsp;</i>(Colossians 3;3)&nbsp; These physical mortal bodies&nbsp;are disposable instruments to be used for The glory of God.</div><div><u><br></u></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, bless us to live now in the gift of Christ’s death to sin. &nbsp;Our <i>“old (dead)&nbsp;self” &nbsp;</i>has been crucified. &nbsp;Bless us to walk in freedom, in&nbsp;Christ by the Spirit, fearless&nbsp;in newness of life. &nbsp;In Jesus we pray, Amen.</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric/Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. 6.  We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the sinful body might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.7.  For he who has died is freed from sin.
Paul is here teaching us more about ‘spiritual time travel’.
He teaches that our “old self” (meaning our sinful, rebellious will) was, by baptism, transported back in time and died on the cross to sin, with Jesus.
This is so that we (born-anew in Christ) can now begin the new life, which is to deny the rule of “old self” and “put to death the deeds of the body.” (Romans 8;13)This is what Paul is referring to when he says, “so that the body might be destroyed, and we might no longer
