<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Romans 7;5&amp;6<div><br></div><div><b>5. &nbsp;While we were living in the flesh, our sinful&nbsp;passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.</b></div><div><b>6. &nbsp;But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we serve not under the old written code but in the new life of the Spirit.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>So long as we considered ourselves to be defined by our physicality, our mortal form, we were/are captives&nbsp;to&nbsp;sin. &nbsp;This is what <i>“living ‘in’ the flesh” </i>means: &nbsp;Considering oneself as limited to&nbsp;one’s own body, one’s own thoughts and&nbsp;will’. &nbsp;To do so, is to be&nbsp;separated, isolated, helpless, cut off and apart from God. &nbsp;This amounts to thinking of oneself as being ‘on your own’, you are you alone.</div><div><br></div><div>We had no power, no strength in us (that is in our flesh)&nbsp;to oppose our own evil passions and desires. &nbsp;We were&nbsp;ruled by&nbsp;sin and trespass, and knowing&nbsp;the law of God only made our wickedness more wicked. &nbsp;It increased our guilt.</div><div><br></div><div>There is <u>only</u>&nbsp;one hope for escaping the lonely&nbsp;rule of sin over us, it is&nbsp;death. &nbsp;There is to this day&nbsp;no power in our own flesh to overcome our evil desires, our&nbsp;temptations to sin. &nbsp;Good intentions to try harder to resist sin&nbsp;are doomed. &nbsp;&nbsp;Our own mortal&nbsp;efforts to stop sinning and do righteousness&nbsp;remain hopeless. &nbsp;Our flesh to this day,&nbsp;remains infected with the law of sin and death.</div><div><br></div><div>Our baptism into Christ gives us Christ’s death to sin; our own passions, desires, and&nbsp;selfish will. &nbsp;To be dead by baptism into Christ, is to be set free from the authority and control of sin and death. &nbsp;Being dead <i><u>in</u></i>&nbsp;Christ, is&nbsp;our entrance into the world of the Spirit, living in and with Jesus by the Spirit. &nbsp;We are no longer isolated, cut off from true life in&nbsp;God. &nbsp;We are no longer alone. &nbsp;We consider ourselves to be joined as in marriage to our Lord and made one with Him.</div><div><br></div><div>As Christ’s own will is to do the will of the Father, so too is it our will, in and with Jesus to serve the will of the Father.&nbsp; &nbsp;Not according to the old&nbsp;written code, we are no longer resisting and resenting the will of the Father,</div><div>(resisting and resenting the will of the Father belongs to the old self, the carnal flesh). &nbsp; We are new born children of God&nbsp;in Christ who walk by the Spirit, believing we have been given power with Jesus to walk-in newness of live. &nbsp; By faith, we can now deny our old passions and desires, we can die with Christ to their demands for us to obey them. &nbsp;We are “<i>discharged” </i>from serving sin. &nbsp;We as baptized, born anew children of God&nbsp;are no longer servants of the devil and sin and death. &nbsp;We are now servants of God, joyful&nbsp;slaves to His will.</div><div><br></div><div>We by faith live in union, communion, and oneness with and in Jesus. &nbsp;We are in Him and He is in us.</div><div>This is what, <i>“the new life in the Spirit” </i>means<i>.</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div><i>&nbsp;</i><br>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, we praise you that through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are no longer separated from You. &nbsp;We are no longer isolated and lonely. &nbsp;We are married and made one with Jesus to newness of life, and denial of the rule of the old self. &nbsp;We rejoice in the gift of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus,</div><div>By His death, resurrection, and our participation in them through baptism. &nbsp;In Jesus we praise You, Amen.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric/Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. &nbsp;God’s Word is our habitation, and we, broken-hearted, contrite, forgiven, believing children, are His.”<br><br><div><a href="https://mail.onelink.me/107872968?pid=nativeplacement&amp;c=Global_Acquisition_YMktg_315_Internal_EmailSignature&amp;af_sub1=Acquisition&amp;af_sub2=Global_YMktg&amp;af_sub3=&amp;af_sub4=100000604&amp;af_sub5=EmailSignature__Static_" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>

5.  While we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.6.  But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we serve not under the old written code but in the new life of the Spirit.
So long as we considered ourselves to be defined by our physicality, our mortal form, we were/are captives to sin.  This is what “living ‘in’ the flesh” means:  Considering oneself as limited to one’s own body, one’s own thoughts and will’.  To do so, is to be separated, isolated, helpless, cut off and apart from God.  This amounts to thinking of oneself as being ‘on your own’, you are you alone.

There is only one hope for escaping the lonely rule of sin over us, it is death.  There is to this day no power in our own flesh to overcome our evil desires, our temptations to sin.  Good intentions to try harder to resist sin are doomed.   Our own mortal efforts to stop sinning and do righteousness remain hopeless.  Our flesh to this day, remains infected with the law of sin and death.

We by faith live in union, communion, and oneness with and in Jesus.  We are in Him and He is in us.This is what, “the new life in the Spirit” means.
 
Prayer:  Merciful Father, we praise you that through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are no longer separated from You.  We are no longer isolated and lonely.  We are married and made one with Jesus to newness of life, and denial of the rule of the old self.  We rejoice in the gift of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus,By His death, resurrection, and our participation in them through baptism.  In Jesus we praise You, Amen.
