He came to his own home, and his own people received him not. But to all who <u>received him</u>, who b<u>elieved in his name</u>, he gave power to become children of God; Who were born, not of&nbsp;blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt&nbsp;among, full&nbsp;of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father.” &nbsp;</i>(John 1;9-14)</div><div><i><br></i></div><div>What does it mean, to be <i>“enlightened”</i>?</div><div><br></div><div>Most people would answer, ‘It means to believe, by faith, that Jesus is the Son of God, our Savior and Lord.”</div><div>They understand (to be) “<i>enlightened” </i>as an act of&nbsp;the intellect. &nbsp;It is, but it is more than asserting who Jesus is. &nbsp;It is to understand <u>where</u>&nbsp;Jesus is.<i></i></div><div><br></div><div>What does it mean, to <i>“receive Him”?</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div>Most people would answer,&nbsp;‘It means to believe we have received&nbsp;God’s&nbsp;<u>gifts</u>&nbsp;of repentance, faith, forgiveness, and the<span>&nbsp;Holy Spirit for living the&nbsp;new Life. It does, but to <i>“receive Him” </i>is more than receiving the benefits of God’s gracious and merciful gifts. &nbsp;It means believing Christ Himself now dwells within us by the Holy Spirit. &nbsp;&nbsp;</span><span>He has entered</span><span>&nbsp;in</span><span>to </span><span>us. &nbsp;This is <u>where Jesus is.</u></span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>What does it mean,<i>”believe in His name”?</i></span></div><div><span><i><br></i></span></div><div><span>Again, the common answer is, ‘to believe in the power of the name of Jesus Christ to save us from sin and death and give to us eternal life.’ It does, but to <i>“believe, </i><u>in His name”</u>&nbsp;means to believe <u>with</u>&nbsp;the Mind of Christ, so that every thought and prayer is being thought and prayed in perfect, complete, actual&nbsp;union with Christ, mind, soul, spirit.<i></i></span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>To sing, <i>“and uphold me with <u>Thy</u>&nbsp;free spirit” </i>(Offertory, Psalm 51;12) is the actual activity of Christ who is&nbsp;in-dwelling us, a very participation in the Divine Nature. &nbsp;We are no longer two, (the ‘Bride’ and the ‘Bridegroom,’)&nbsp;but One. &nbsp;This is what it means to be <i>“enlightened.”</i><i></i></span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>As Jesus said, <i>“He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father who sent me.” &nbsp;</i>(John 14;24)</span></div><div><span><i>“Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son&nbsp;can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the father doing; for whatever he does, that the son does likewise.” &nbsp;</i>(John 5;19)</span></div><div><span>“I and the Father are One.” (John 10;30)<i></i></span></div><div><span><i>“I in them, and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that thou has sent me and has loved them even as thou has loved me.” &nbsp;</i>(John 17;23)</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>To be believing, <i>“in His name” </i>is to believe in and with Jesus as being who&nbsp;we now truly are, One, with and in Jesus. &nbsp;It means to believe <u>with</u>&nbsp;Jesus.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>For example, in praying we normally pray:&nbsp;<i>‘Father, bless <u>me</u> to put to death the deeds of the body. &nbsp;Help <u>me</u>&nbsp;to&nbsp;put to death all anger, malice, and wrath which seeks to own and control&nbsp;me. Amen.’</i></span></div><div><span><i><br></i></span></div><div><span>When those who are <u>in Christ Jesus</u>&nbsp;pray: &nbsp;<i>‘We </i>(Jesus and you together as one new creation, see Ephesians 2;10)&nbsp;<i>thank you Father, that we have died to sin and are now alive to You. &nbsp;All anger, malice, and wrath are forgotten, left in the tomb, and covered from Your sight&nbsp;under the Blood shed on the cross. What does it mean, to be “enlightened”?
