<html><head></head><body><div><div><div><div><br></div>Romans 10;10<div><br></div><div><b>10. &nbsp;For a man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved.</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>This verse is often misunderstood as justifying the false teaching of&nbsp;‘synergistic&nbsp;salvation.’&nbsp;</div><div>This false teaching says, ‘Salvation is the result of both God <u>and man.</u></div><div>God gives or works faith in our hearts by Word and Spirit, and then man, by his own act of willing obedience&nbsp;<i>“confesses&nbsp;with his&nbsp;lips and so is saved.”&nbsp;</i></div><div><i>&nbsp;</i>(The word ‘synergistic’ means, a co-operation between two separate things. &nbsp;It falsely asserts that&nbsp;God does His part, but man must do his part.)</div><div><br></div><div>Another way this false teaching of ‘synergistic salvation’ is sometime expressed is when you hear someone say, “We are saved by faith as the&nbsp;gift of God, BUT, God’s gift of faith must be received.”<span>&nbsp;</span><span>&nbsp;</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>The rationalization behind this false teaching is, ‘If we have the power to reject the gift of God, (and in fact we truly do), then, therefore, we also have the power to accept Jesus into our hearts, to ‘receive Him.’</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>This false doctrine wrongly ascribes to sinners the human&nbsp;power to decide to <i>“confess Jesus with their&nbsp;lips”</i>, (thus bringing about, or completing&nbsp;the work of&nbsp;their salvation.)</span></div><div><span>We do not.&nbsp;</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>&nbsp;Scripture clearly teaches that dead people can do nothing for themselves.</span></div><div><span>The proper understanding of salvation, is that it is entirely and <u>only the work of God.</u></span></div><div><span><i>“And you, He <u>made alive</u>&nbsp;when <u>you were dead</u>&nbsp;through the&nbsp;trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.”</i></span></div><div><span><i>&nbsp;</i>(Ephesians 2;1&amp;2)</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Ask yourself, ‘What did I have to do with my conception in my mother’s womb?’ Or, ‘What did I have to do with my own birth into this world?’ &nbsp;The answer to both is, ‘Nothing.’ &nbsp;</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Our existence as children (who possess the&nbsp;family name), who live and&nbsp;breathe, is the result of our mother and father, <u>NOT OURSELVES.</u></span></div><div><i><br></i></div><div>In the very same way that we have nothing to do with our creation or birth physically, neither have we anything to do with our creation as God’s own dear children. &nbsp;He <i>“made us alive when we were dead.”</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div>Our hearts beat and our lungs breathe, not because we tell them to, but because life is in them from God.</div><div>So also, our hearts believe and our tongues confess Christ, because the same God took on human flesh, suffered, died, rose from death, and ascended into heaven in order that we might be filled with Him by the Holy Spirit.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;When we, <i>“confess with our lips” </i>that Jesus is Lord to the glory of the Father, that confession is coming out of Christ who dwells within us. &nbsp;(see, Philippians 2;13)&nbsp;We take no credit for the confession of our faith, just as we take no credit for the beating of our hearts or the breath in our lungs. &nbsp;<i></i></div><div><br></div><div>Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, we praise You, that our salvation, and the living out of the<i>”obedience of the faith”&nbsp;</i>(Romans 1;5)<i>&nbsp;</i>is entirely Your work not ours. &nbsp;When we, <i>“work out our salvation with fear and trembling” </i>(Philippians 2;12) we recognize that it is not we who are living out <i>“the obedience of faith”</i>, but Christ indwelling us by the Holy Spirit,&nbsp;inspiring and empowering&nbsp;us in all we do to Your glory. &nbsp;</div><div>Deliver us dear Father from what man according to his sinful nature is still capable of doing, resisting the Holy Spirit. &nbsp;In Jesus we pray, Amen.</div><div><br></div><div>Love,</div><div>Dad/Baba/Eric/Grandpa Pickle Pastor</div><div>“A chapter a day, every day, progressively, be transformed, ‘soak’ in the living Word. &nbsp;God’s Word is our habitation, and we, broken-hearted, contrite, forgiven, believing children, are His.”</div><div><div><br></div><div><br><br><br><div><a href="https://mail.onelink.me/107872968?pid=nativeplacement&amp;c=Global_Acquisition_YMktg_315_Internal_EmailSignature&amp;af_sub1=Acquisition&amp;af_sub2=Global_YMktg&amp;af_sub3=&amp;af_sub4=100000604&amp;af_sub5=EmailSignature__Static_" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a><br></div></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>
